FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

What will the weather be like?

Highs can be in the 90's and lows in the 60's.  We will be having the ceremony in a shaded area however both the ceremony and reception will be outdoors.   Come prepared for a fairly warm day with a slightly cooler evening.

What should I wear?

We are calling our dress code "wedding casual"…similar to what the internet seems to call dressy casual.  Come in whatever makes you feel comfortable and fabulous.  You may want to wear shoes that are easy to walk in, as the ranch has a mixture of paved floors, gravel and dirt paths...and we expect everyone to dance!

Where should I park?

Orcutt Ranch has several parking spots available on the property and loads of free and easy street parking directly next to the location.  If you are unsure of where to park, there will be a guard at the entrance who can direct you to the best parking spot.  Please note that we will be reserving many of the property spots for our less mobile guests.

Can I bring a date?

While we’d love to meet your friends and partners, we are having an intimate affair and unfortunately cannot accommodate for everyone to bring a date.  Your invitation will be addressed to the individual(s) who we are expecting at the wedding.  If you are hoping to bring someone that we have not planned for, please contact one of us (or email us at wedding@lowtech-labs.org) so we can ensure everyone is included and expected

When is the RSVP deadline?

We are requesting that RSVPs be sent either by mail or through the RSVP form on our website by June 1st, 2012.

Are the ceremony and reception locations wheelchair accessible?

Yes!  This was very important to us.  Not only will there be reserve special parking for you, but there is a road that leads directly to the ceremony/reception area to minimize the amount of travelling you’ll have to do.  The ceremony and reception areas are located very close to one another and are both wheelchair accessible.

What should/could I do between the ceremony and the reception?

We will have a cocktail hour with plenty of drinks and snacks immediately following the ceremony.

What kind of food will be served?

In addition to the cocktail hour, we will be serving up delicious sandwiches and sides from an amazing food truck (one of our favorite ways to dine!)  There will be options for a variety of diets.  We love this truck not only because it's yummy, but also because they use all local, organic and seasonal ingredients picked from various Los Angeles farmers' markets.

What if I have a dietary restriction?

Please let us know as soon as possible if you have any dietary restrictions or allergies.  While we are doing our best to ensure there are options for all types of foodies, the more we know in advance will help us to ensure that there are yummy things that you can eat!

Can I take pictures?

Of course you are welcome to take pictures, although remember that we are paying someone lots of money to do this for us J  What is most important to us is that you take some time to enjoy our celebration and socialize with our wonderful friends and family.

If you do take pictures, we would LOVE for you to share them with us!  We will be creating an online album where you can upload all the photos you’ve taken at the wedding.  We will post more information about the album and how to post pictures soon.

What can I do while in Los Angeles?

Will you be having a brunch or something on Sunday?

In lieu of the more traditional Sunday brunch, we will be having a picnic at Woodley Park in Van Nuys for all of our friends who we cannot invite to our small wedding on Saturday.  We will begin at 2pm and will end at sundown.  You are all welcome to join us to celebrate all over again…stay tuned for more information.

My question wasn't answered in this FAQ - how do I contact you?

Email any questions, comments, concerns, well wishes, and other wedding related things to wedding@lowtech-labs.org.  You can also leave a comment when you RSVP online – this is a great place to note any dietary restrictions or special requests that you might have.
